I have this winters firewood all cut, split and stacked in the wood shed. I have 6 cords put up and may do just a little more as I do have some room for it. Maybe a 1/2 cord to a cord.
Here is what the wood shed looks like.

There are 2 rows on each side 6 ft tall and 8 ft long and then 2 rows across the back 5 ft long and 6 ft tall. I have room for one more row across the back.

I have a hydraulic wood splitter. All I do is set the log on it and pull a lever and it get's split! I have been using it since 1992 and it paid for itself the first year I had it. Best ourchase I ever made!

Wow, what a load of wood. Good thing you have that log splitter or you wouldn't be able to move for months each winter.
How much of that will be left come spring, after a typical winter for you all?

You're certainly well prepared by the looks of it CK. It must be so rewarding to look at all that split wood and know there's plenty to keep you warm all through the winter.

Last year was about a normal winter for us. I had 5 1/2 cords put up. And I had about a 1/2 cord left over. They say this winter may be colder than normal and I have 6 cords put up right now. I should end up with an addional 1/2 cord more. I'll let you know next April!

Wow...it makes me realise that I have been a gardenstewer for a good couple of years now as I seem to remember seeing a similar photo a couple of times before. That wood pile should keep you good and toasty this winter. To be honest, it is so chilly here in Essex this evening, I would be tempted to light a fire to keep warm!

Oh wow Capt, you are ready for winter ALREADY? My wood shed is still empty, but I get it delivered already cut and split I'd better start thinking about it I guess...how depressing!

My oldest brother goes to Florida every winter. One year he sent me a picture of him mowing the grass with sweat pouring off of him. So I sent him a picture of me stretched out in the recliner taking a nap in front of the wood burner. Never got anymore pics of him mowing!

Capt It still is a lot of wood splitting so lots of hard work any way.Where do you get the logs from that you split?Like EJ I've seen your stacks of wood before and it always fascinates me.This past May I've been with the Stew 3 years

All of that wood came down from storms last year. I had a huge poplar come down and that is what most of it is. I came down when Ike came through here last Sept or Oct. And there is twice that amount left to be cut up on it. Poplar isn't the best burning wood, but the price is right!
