Has anyone made an arch out of concrete mesh? I saw a lovely arch that must have been made from concrete mesh, covered in roses. Just curious if this is a difficult material to work with.

I never seen an arch made out of concrete mesh although I know that our conservation buliders have used it in the village to strengthen an old bridge.

Here's the only website that I could find relating to CM:

Looks as though it is a really difficult material to work with.

Was it just the mesh, like chicken wire, or did it have concrete on it?

I suppose you could wrap a simple pole arch with chicken wire and train something up and over it... hm.

I have seen people around here use the metal fence posts and pieces of cattle panels for their archways. The post go about half way up and they start the panels at the bottom and curve them past the top of the post to make the arch. It makes a very sturdy arch!

OH!! Now that I have thought about it cattle panels would have probably not really been flexible, so I bet it is concrete mesh they have used!!!

Try using what we call "hog" panels - its about 2" X 2" squares and bend pretty easily. Chicken wire would work as well but is a a bear to work with, too flimsy. Again, call your local contractors and see what they may have to give away (I'm not good at paying for something when I can get it for free).
