I kept seeing the hog panel arbors in photos on the internet. So, when I saw one at the home improvement store, I bought one and hubby and I worked on it tonight. It was a bit labor intensive, and the retrofit to existing roses & clematis was a little scary. But, I'm very happy with the results. It's a little on the short side (but plenty tall for me!), and I'll like being able to reach the top of the arbor to tie things down. I could see expanding this to be a rose/clematis tunnel someday.

Directions:
Arbor made from 36" X 16' galvanized welded hog panel. $17.99 @ Menards. Use bolt cutter to cut bottom row weld (or two rows depending on your soil type). Find middle of panel, bend ends toward each other until you have the shape you like. Use a 2'X4' and a hammer to safely pound into the ground.

Seriously cool - and it looks so graceful, you'd never think to associate the word "hog" with it at all.

Oh I approve wholeheartedly!!!! Mr. Green Really looks as though it's meant to be there. It's going to look even better once your plants grow over the top.

I like this arbor very much. It reminds me of a little grotto. I thought I might like one up against a wall but my hubby immediately said we could make several together to form a tunnel. As a man, he likes to think big and I don't discourage that when it comes to the garden. Cool
