I have some Hollyhock seeds. Is it too late in the season to plant them?

Oh I'm definately in  Such a striking contrast between the black of the flower petals, the white centres and the green of the leaves. Now that is a plant that I am definately going to have in my garden!!!

I'm going to have a lot of seeds, will collect them if and disperse if you want them. Remind me so I won't forget! It'll be August when they're ready.
You can plant them in fall or spring. I do both. Spring planted ones won't bloom the first year, but will bloom profusely the 2nd. Fall planted seeds will bloom the next year, but not as well as those planted in the spring of the previous year. Plant both ways, and you can't lose.

Eileen, does Scotland forbid getting seeds from other places?

Oh, pianolady, please put me on the list for some of those seeds. I have seen pictures of those in plant catalogs, but have had bad luck with mail order plants so never even bothered buy them.
It is darn near impossible to find hollyhocks in nurserys around here but I know they will grow, I have seen them in other gardens.

Oh I really like those!! I have never had any luck with hollyhocks!! I think I might be sowing the seeds at the wrong time of the year. What time of year should I start them?

As a young girl, my mother had to care for her mother's hollyhock garden. She hated them because of the work it reminded her of, and as a result never grew hollyhocks. Well, dear old G-ma has saved the seeds from those plants she started some 60+ years ago and has passed them on to me. G-ma has also saved seeds from a huge zinnia that her mother collected some 80+ years ago. I'll have to get some pics on here when things get blooming.
