I have a question.... I have a large bed that is full of narcissus and regular old orange tiger lillies. Should I feed them now in Fall so they grow stronger through the winter? Or in spring/summer while they are blooming? Or both?

I usually feed them in spring and again in summer, but never in autumn since they're dying down then and won't need food. The foliage dies off and returns a lot of energy to the bulbs. So far my lilies and narcissi have done very well with my treatment.

I agree with Droopy - there's no point in giving them a feed at this time of year. I do give mine a boost in spring though. You could put down a mulch where your bulbs are growing to protect them from the cold but that's all I'd do in autumn.

Thanks guys... I was kind of thinking that was the way to go, but wanted to be sure. I've got a new iris bed that I'll treat the same way. Lots of mulch.
