Back in early October Butterflyboy was asking for someplace to buy butterfly kits for growing butterflies.
I get a catalog in the mail from American Science and Surplus, really cool stuff some of which you never knew you couldn't live without and they have a butterfly growing kit
Thought I would pass on the info in case anyone else was interested.

I had a good look around your website Toni and there's just soooo much that I'm sure I need!! Best sit on my hands so that I'm not tempted to go find my wallet.
Oh meant to say - the butterfly kit seems well worth the money.

What a fun site! I've spent far too much time surfing it already.

Nice site, Toni. I would have liked to order some larvae.
One of the garden centers here had a big sale of larvae last year for the gardens, but there was a huge public uproar of protest. I never did discover what the big objection was...but the bottom line was that they had to remove them from the shelves--before I got any.
I know it's nuts--people do everything in their powerf to remove munching worms from their gardens, and here comes Sjoerd who actually WANTS to put worms (catterpillars) in his garden. I reckon they thought that I had gone round the bend.
Anyway--great site with so many temptations.

I have ordered lots of stuff from them over the years.
Even if I am not going to buy anything, just reading some of the item information gives me a good laugh they have such a good sense of humor.
Sjoerd, I am always amazed at how many gardeners will pick caterpillars off their plants because they are eating it....some then wonder why they never see any butterflies around their garden.
I always plant extra, some for the caterpillars and some for me, but if there are lots of cats and they are hungry I really don't mind since the end result is so beautiful.
The first year I ever planted a Passionflower vine Passiflora incarnata I found almost a dozen caterpillars lined up along the vine munching away. And my yard was filled with gorgeous orange Gulf Fritillary butterflies several days later so that was worth a naked vine to me.
