I thought, with rememberance day approaching, I would post a link to a site which is raising money for the British legion, by selling a pattern to knit your very own poppy. It only costs £2 sterling, and I have downloaded it. A very easy pattern and I am going to knit them for the children. Once finished, I shall post a piccy for you.

I may have to try that too.

For those in the US, Remembrance Day is the same as Veteran's Day here, Nov 11th...also known as Armistice Day.

We used to buy the paper poppies from Veterans selling them around town when I was a kid.

I've paid my donation and downloaded the pattern - thanks EJ. I'm not a great knitter but I know someone who's birthday is on the 5th of Novemeber who will be tickled pink to get the pattern. I'm sure her needles will be red hot by the 11th. Very Happy

Glad you approve Eileen, I don't usually like to add a link without checking first, but I figured this is for such a good cause. I have already knitted the petals and leaf, but I don't have any black wool to knit the centre spot!! Will have to hunt around for some. I will take a piccy once finished to show you.

A good idea, EJ-- I will be interested to see how they come out.
