|
Now please excuse my ignorance as I am not very computer literate where the technical stuff is concerned.
The thing is, I keep getting an Adobe Flash Player box coming up on certain sites and cannot get rid of it. Whatever answer I give it will not go away so I have to shut down the computer and start again.
I have been on to the Adobe site which informs me that I have Version 10.0.32.18 installed. I don't know if this is the latest version or whether I could download a later version which would cure the problem.
Any of you clever peeps out there help me please?

One thing that you could do is to download and install the flash player again.
During the installation process you may get a window saying that there is already that version located on your compi and ask you if you want to overwrite it. Just klik "yes" and complete the install.
That may well get rid of the pop-ups .

Maybe it is telling you an updated version is available for downloading. Is there someplace to check 'download now'?

A few questions that'll help us answer yours:
1) Are you using Internet Explorer or a different web browser?
2) Is the "pop-up" appearing directly beneath your browser's tool bar or is it a separate pop-up window, like an ad?

I am using Internet Explorer and the pop-up appears as many boxes all on top of one another. The only way I can explain it is that it is like a flight of stairs one below the other. Sometimes I can get rid of them and sometimes whatever answer I give, they will not go away and I have to turn off the computer and start again.
I tried, as was suggested, downloading Flash Player again but this has not resolved the problem.
Sorry I cannot be of much help but it all goes a bit above my head I'm afraid.

I have the option to 'turn off pop-up blocker' or 'pop-up blocker settings' Sjoerd.

Ok, GG....Just place a check mark in that little box. (I am working with the dutch version of windows and so I was translating to what I thought it might say)--hahaha.
--Don't worry about the "settings" that will not play a role with the problem at hand.
Well, so, try placing a check mark there and see if that will keep them from popping-up.If this doesn't do the trick, I have a couple more things that we can try.

^You could do that, but if pop-ups are continuously reappearing, your computer is probably infected with some form of malware disguising itself as a legitimate update. DO NOT CLICK THE POP-UP under any circumstances. If possible, update your virus checker and run a full scan.

Here is a link to the Adobe site and how to reinstall Adobe Flash Player. Note it is important that you uninstall any other versions of Flash Player before you install a new version.

Thanks very much for the advice. I have uninstalled and downloaded the latest version, so here's hoping this fixes the problem. Will keep you posted.
