I haven't moved them from one place to another but I have planted them into the ground from pots. We had a very big one in Arizona and I hated leaving it and I'm thinking I'll get one or two this spring. They are used as a landscape plant in Arizona and they are found up and down streets and highways and in parking lot boundaries. dooley

I moved mine when I lived in Utah. They did ok. I discovered that the bigger the section of earth they are in you can take with you when you move them, the better they do. Now for some reason, I had trouble saying that. Did that make sense? Tired now. Long day.

Thank you Dooley and Newfpaws. I won't be afraid to move them this spring. I'm still developing my border and plan to put different varieties of Sunflowers in the back this year.

They make such a pretty background for shorter plants in the garden.

I love Russian sage! Here in NE, it is kind of like a big, lovable weed The fragrance is wonderful
If it is a happy plant, it will have "babies" and they are easy to move. You just need to be certain to dig up the whole root.
I find that in my zone 5, they prefer not to be over watered. good luck!
