I had a wire cage so I made a little holder for it and hung it up on the sundeck. I just put in suet from the butchers. I made the back base long so the woodpeckers would have room to use their tails as a support. It works pretty good. I have also had bushtits and chickadees using it.

I have a similar 'cage' feeder that I put suet in Kildale. It's a great way to get close-up shots of the birds that visit it. My photographs may not be as good as yours but the feeder certainly gives me a lot of pleasure. :-D

It attracts the birds alright, but I don't usually like to show the feeders in the photographs. These were just to show that it works

I like the looks and strength/size of that suet feeder. I quit using the suet feeders because the crows would work the smaller ones loose and take off with them. I'd swear that a family of them would work together and carry it off :D

Guess I just have to be more creative. :)

We have a lot of crows around here, sometimes I see 30 or 40 on the lawns, amazingly they never come onto the deck or to the feeders.

When you live in the city the wild life learn amazing things. We have a couple of deer that hop the fences and go into all the neighbors yards. I've seen them a several times throughout the last year. I have dogs so they stay out of my yard. Who would have thought...deer? It still amazes me.

I am only a few blocks from the main streets, but possum and raccoons continue to be major nuisances. Scrub and Steller's jays nest in the yard or close by as well as a variety of chickadees, song sparrows, towhees, hummingbirds and a the usual city birds.

I counted five squirrel nests when the leaves fell from the trees. I'm not so sure I would be so kind if I had one in a trap....but then again relocating to the other side of town would be easier than the other options. :-?

We have have deer etc in the garden all the time and raccoons. Its the squirrels that I don't like and I hate cats, why people have them and let them roam about is beyond me. I'd love to catch them and get rid of them.
