The onset of summer weather has brought my family back to their favorite appliance in the summer kitchen, the blender. I thought I would share one of our all-time favorite smoothies, and see if other folks might also have some combinations they enjoy.

Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie

1 1/2 c. strawberry ice-cream or frozen yogurt
3/4 c. strawberry nectar
1/4 c. low fat sour cream
3 Tablespoons cream cheese
2-3 cups fresh strawberries, frozen.

Put everything but the strawberries in the blender and blend. Add frozen berries and blend til smooth. Serve with graham crackers if you really want the whole experience...wow...
We made this with cranberry-raspberry juice instead of the nectar and it was still very good.

My fruitarian son loves making smoothies. I think my favourite waa the mango and passionfruit one. Very Happy Much more interesting and tasty than just juice.

Hmm, I've never tried putting ice cream in a smoothie before, but that sounds darn tempting.

I love smoothies and how easy it is to make them from just about anything. If you've got the basics: dairy, ice, and fruit you're probably going to be able to make a tasty snack.

My favorite is to take frozen blueberries, vanilla yogurt, milk, orange juice concentrate, and some sour cream. I don't know if it's just a guy thing, but I never measure things because then it's just more stuff to have to clean up. Smile
