Im in a pickle.

My darling hubbys birthday is on the 2nd. He will be 36 yr old. For the past 5 years, he has never been home for his birthday. He has always been out of town working. This year will be no different. He is out on the oil rig and wont be back until the 7th.

I want to get him something very special. But as always, Im at a lose. He is very hard to shop for. He has thousands of dollars worth of tools (most from me as a Xmas ,birthday or annv. gift). He has more cloths and shoes than me.

His hobbies are playing on the computer and has recently gotten into reading. He collects swords and knives. He also collects minted cars (is that the right saying for old toy cars?) I have bought everything that he has in his collection as a gift at one time or another, except his newest sword from the Middle East(Dianne brought it back from Iraq).

I want it to be something different and very special.

I was thinking if he doesnt mind, waiting a few weeks to save up the money and see about buying him the body of a muscle car. I can probably get one from a junk yard for fairly cheap, I would think. It will give him something to do on his week off. He rebuilt two Novas and some other cars (Im have no clue the names but I can pick them out of a lineup!).

How would one of you men like to get something like that as a birthday gift? Can you toss some suggestions my way!? PLEASE! Ladies suggestions too please!

Ohhh that is a great idea!!! My hubby would love an old Jeep but if I was to choose a muscle car I would go with a GTO, Charger, Mustang, or anything put out in the 1960's as fast I think is looked at as a muscle car!!! Ohhh he will be so happy I'm sure!!! Mr. Green

How about something the 2 of you could share? Maybe a trip to a muscle car show or maybe a collectors show where they have swords and knives or something like that?

Well, I hate old cars...or any car for that matter. He knows it and knows I would hate to go to a show about them. HE knows I would go, but I wouldnt like it so he would end up taking a friend. Besides, with his work the way it is, I dont want to buy tickets and him not be able to go.

I was thinking a book like that but he can look at a car and tell you everything about it.... well let me say, if it is from the 70s and earlier. He loves those things.

Great ideas but I dont think it would work with him.

Now Kim, I was thinking ....I think its called a Duster...LMAO! I dont know the name if that car! He is in love with it.

But I called the local junk yard and they have the following cars there..

- 69 Pontiac GTO Judge in so so condion. He said that theres a few spots that need hammering out and lots of rust but the frame is great condion. Its just the body and frame.(didnt even know cars had frames)HE said that if we tow it, he will take $600 for it.

-69 Camaro Z-28 with everything orignal (Im guessing this is a good thing?) but has massive damage to it so the body will most likely need replacing but the frame is good. He wants $500.

-69 Dodge Charger RP....RT..something like that..Now this one, Rob has a model car of so I know what it looks like...Its 69 Dodge Charger (not sure the RP or RT is )
The guy said its just the body and frame and has been completely gutted by a fire so everything as to be replaced. And he wants $900. for this....now why is just the body and frame so high? Anyone know?

-70 Buick GSX..its just the frame and body. He said that beacuse of where it sits, theres hardly any rust and dents and he wants $1200. for it.... Shocked I think this one is out.

And these are the prices if we tow. Now I dont know if I got the info right. He was talking so fast and like I suppose to know what he was talking about....HAHA! I wrote it down the best I could.

>sigh< I just dont know. Since he had a Charger in his collection, Im wondering if I should get that one.

Ohhhh see if you can find a Chilton Manual "Car book" on ebay or something for his favorite!! They are hugely thick and you can put an entire car together with the right one!!! Mr. Green

BOY, what a great wife you are. I have a 1981 corvette that I have just about totally rebuilt. They are not that much money right now, that may be a good idea. Cool
