This opened today but I didnt notice the leaves on it until this evening!They are standing up like petals and the petals are hard like the leaves and have a greenish tint to the outside of them. Very different.
I cut a few (only four)of them to bring inside to enjoy since they have busted loose out there in my wild flower bed.

Yes, and blanket flowers & coneflowers will sometimes do this also. It's kind of fun, you never know what you'll get.

I musta had some "ditch variety" of Rudbeckia, cuz mine never ever looked that nice. And they froze or drowned out. I gotta go make room for these...

Hank, when the heads dry out, Ill cut you one and send it to you if you want. Ill can send you one head of each that way you have lots of these seeds.
They have exploded out there so I have plenty heads.

You can plant some blanket flowers next to them, and you'll get susans that are mostly red after a few years. Not all do it, just some.

Yes ,Pinkiered Brown Eyed Susan's are great to watch as you are likely to see all kinds of things going on with them.They are fun plants and they are growing everywhere around here .

I planted Bellis Daisy's earlier this summer. One pink and one a deep red, planted close together. In only a matter of months I have uniform coloured flowers - pink with red edges!
Bizarre! I knew that plants often mutated, but I've never seen it happen this quick!!
