Had a great day on Saturday with the family on the allotment and we were able to harvest yet more goodies.

Here is Jessica holding a little Gem lettuce - a perfect size, all gone in just a couple of meals. I have a row of these ready, a row of lollo rosso, and a row of a peppery red chicory lettuce ready.

In this picture you have young James holding a couple of onions. We were having another BBQ so needed some onions with our burgers. These have been slow to get going, I guess the heavy snow in the winter and then the dry spring didn't help. This is a Japanese variety that you plant in November time. They should really be ready for harvest in July.

The fruit has all set well. The bees are working overtime on the raspberries, so again, a bumper crop of my favourite berry, there are masses of strawbs, this rain should have done them the power of good, black currants and redcurrants are all looking excellent, and one of my other faves, gooseberrys. The bushes are laden with plump gogs. Another few weeks yet as I like them sweet and juicy. yum

Bonus harvest, the first strawbs...well not the actual first as I scoffed them whenever I visited and spotted one ripe, but this is the first time there have been a few ready. They were delicious.

And finally, Mark, my darling helper. Here he is humping barrows of manure to pile up on my compost heap. As you can imagine, on a hot day, this was a knackering job. What a star!

Ahhhhhhhhhh....I really liked seeing your harvests. It looks like you had a good crew helping out. ;)

You seem to be a little further along than we here in W-F.

It was nice seeing that big barrow-full of manure--gold! :D I'm jelous.

Nice produce! Love the strawberries, they are at the height of their season here too. It looks like your family had a good time helping, ;) and being together. Gardening is always more enjoyable when you can share the work and the rewards!

Oh, strawberries already? *drool* Ours are just starting to bloom! I do envy you your lovely helpers, they're both useful and decorative I'd say. :D

Looks like you and family had a wonderful day of harvest and picnic at your allotment. That lettuce looked so mouth watering. The strawberries! oh yum, lucky you to have them already. Mine are just in the little green round dot stage or still flowering. And Mark, bless his heart, he did that with out a nose plug. Brave man!

Thank you for sharing your fun and sun in the garden!

Gosh everyone seems to be gathering strawberries. Mine are only just beginning to show signs of berries.
