Throw away, or let it grow? Shrub/tree/bush? With small, Jagged-edged green leaves. 7 leaves to a stem and smooth branches.

This just kind of popped up right in the middle of a shrub I have. I'm trying to figure out if it some type of invasive tree/bush. A "weed" that I should just pull out and throw away, or let it grow.

The root system seems to be mixed in with the shrub it's growing from. There are seven leaves to a stem and they are green, dull and shinny, not really smooth, and on the thinner side. Leaves have jagged edges. Branches seem to be smooth. Stands about 2 ft tall and seems to grow fast. Is this something I should just pull out and trash, or let it grow within the existing shrub?

I thank you for your help.

~K

Has it flowered/fruited? If so, could you describe the flowers and fruit?

Thank you for your reply, but no it has not flowered or fruited yet. It just seems to be growing bigger out of the root system of the existing shrub, but it is in no way the same plant. I just don't know if I should dig it out and remove it or what. With no knowing what it is, im afraid it will invade over the existing shrub.

Thanks again,
~K

I'd like to see the existing shrub that this plant seems to be growing from if that is possible.

Hello Eileen, You ask and you shall receive. It is growing out of the shrub in the following thread.

It is just out of camera range, to the left of the 3rd picture down.

Thanks,
