Some of you expressed a desire to get one after seeing my Purple Foutain grass. Well, it sent off a branch that was rooted in three spots so I planted them and they are growing well.

So if you are interested, let me know. I only have three. See pics below for mother plant and babies.

Ill add a link so you can see if it will grow in your zone. Let me say that I have lived in 8 since I bought. Its come throught four freezes outside and has come back.It grows just fine for me. It will look like its dead come winter but dont cut it!!!! The "dead" leaves will come back to live come spring.

Just a little too cold in the winter here for such goodies... I'm in 7b. Love that purple coloring though, very striking!

This past winter I had mine in a large pot so I could bring it in during freezes. Just an idea.

Sorry Denee, I did not see your post about the canna seeds. I don't think those set seed, and from everything I have read, they don't come true to color from seed. I can send you a piece of the canna this fall. A walking iris gets about 12-15 inches tall and send out shoots like an airplane plant. On the end of the shoot is an orchid like flower, purple and white, it only last one morning, after they finish flowering, a new iris plant forms on the shoot. It will root into the ground where ever it touches, thus, walking iris. They also look good in hanging baskets. I will send you one of those for the fountain grass and this fall we will trade something else for the canna, if that is ok.

I have the large red canna with green leaves and purple leaves, the green has seeds, but not my purple one, i think mine is about 6or 7 ft tall. i have plenty of tubers if any one wants to trade for another type of canna or bulb. we can't kill these things here.
