Does anyone have any idea what the plant in the photo is..???? My neighbour, who's side of the fence it is on seems to think is some sort of bush and that is has been there forever. Now, they have only lived there for a yr and we have been here 3 1/2 yrs and have never seen it before....We want to chop it down, as it looks awful against the little fence....But if it is a very nice plant then we wouldnt be so harse on it....Please help....Many Thanks Very Happy

Just guessing here as a friend had a bunch of shrubs with the same rust or red colored leaves. Possibly a red tip photinia that has been cut down and sprouted from the roots. Look and see if there is a larger trunk below the soil line. Some shrubs will sprout again after being cut down.

Are the stems hollow? It could be Leycesteria formosa?
