I am seeing so many caterpillars this summer...right next to my front door so I have a great view of them all...

You are so lucky to have caterpillars and butterflies Sherry. This year has been a disaster for butterflies and bees here. We've had gale force winds, torrential rain and fluctuating temperatures which seems to have affected their breeding and feeding cycles. Sad Your Monarch is such a welcome sight as I'm missing our butterflies badly this year.

Our weather has been something else too...way too much rain. I think I am loosing my butterfly bush because the stems are rotting.

Your photos are amazing, Sherry. I've never seen a caterpillar shed skin before.

Oh, you lucky soul! What decent proximity to observe these intriguing beasts. I'll bet you wish that you could fly away with them to Mexico for the winter, don't you. Wink

Great shots Sherry! I have only seen 1 Monarch Caterpillar this year despite all the Milkweed. I wonder where they are this year?

I was watching a Monarch butterfly laying more eggs on the plants this morning...I keep finding all different sizes of the caterpillars.
