I am having issues with my patty pan squash because the fruit that is growing does not look like a patty pan at all. i went away for a weekend and I came back and WHAM i had pretty big gourds growing near the base of the plant. There is a pretty good chance that they formed quickly and i let them stay on the plant for too long. If anyone has any experience with growing patty pan squash or if you can help me identify my problem, please consult the photo and let me know what is on your mind. Thanks so much!

That looks like an acorn squash ( very good winter keeper) perhaps the seeds were labeled wrong or plants. Not uncommon around here !! Many things are labeled with one variety and turn out to be another. I have found that the growers or seed distributors here use help that is not familiar with the varieties and just label a squash as a squash regardless of variety.
Acorn squash are excellent stuffed and baked.

Your squash does look an acorn. My patty pan squash is the right shape, but dark green instead of white!My scarlet runner beans are tall and full of red blossoms, but they fall off but produce no beans. The bush cukes are running up and over things and the tomatoes are super tall, loaded with fruit, but slow to ripen. My peppers are small plants and doing nothing, but I've heard a lot of gardeners have this problem with peppers this year in Ct.
Try cooking your squash as you would an acorn squash. Good luck!

I too have very few and small Bell peppers, but the Jalapeno and Hungarian are doing quite well.
Patty Pan squash. Are they tasty? Easy to grow? Hard or soft? I am interested for next year. We tried Round De Nice this year and they aren't very yasty. I don't think we will groww them again.

Very nice bell peppers. Could be any one of many varieties of bells. I usually plant California Wonder and Big Bertha`s.

i did not start these guys from seed. i was given some small seedlings by a friend and he doesn't even know what they are. i don't even know when i am supposed to harvest them. i hope they change to a bright color!

You can actually harvest them at any stage. But I do most of mine at between 4 and 5 inches long. Early in the season I get in a hurry and have picked a few smaller. Most all bells will turn red if left on the plant long enough but quality wise, they are better if picked before then.

That's not a problem. They are delicious.
As someone else said you probably got either a mislabeled packet or some odd seeds thrown in.
Do you have time to plant more squash in your area?
I wouldn't use that same seed packet.
You've got some fine looking peppers there. I harvest when the pepper skins start thickening. You can use them earlier though if you want to. I always leave some to turn red. I like to leave the well hidden peppers to fully ripen so they don't sunburn.
I stuffed 8 peppers on Monday--four red and four green ones. We ate half and I froze half for later.

If peppers are available, I freeze at least 16 to 20 stuffed peppers each summer. They are SO good on a cold, winter day. I make a couple of different kinds. One I like is black beans and swiss cheese stuffing.
Greyhound,those are lovely peppers.

I harvested three of my largest peppers and think I am going to try and make some stuffed peppers. That black bean and swiss cheese one sounds incredible. I had to remove my squash plants. They were beginning to wilt. I think that i had vine borers. They were taking up way too much room anyway. I need room for my fall vegetables. I sowed swiss chard and radishes in the squash's place.

Greyhound, my squash has the powdery mildew, but they're still blossoming, so I will leave them be just in case I get one more squash.

Mine get mildew as well. Especially if its a wet year. They still make squash though. I was going to experiment this year and give the leaves a spray with a bit of bleach and water just to see if it would stop the spread. But I got borers instead. Just went from bad to worse. Ha !
