Found these growing along the road outside Caledon, Western Cape. They are flowering now November/ December. Note the serrated tips of the petals.I have searched all my flower books and cannot find this beauty. Does anyone have any ideas?

I believe that is Chicory (Cichorium intybus).

That looks pretty - :D reminds me of a meadow garden.
Who knows that might be just the flower we need here in the Western Cape if one is into meadow gardens.

I agree with Chicory as well. I love the delicate blue of the blooms.

Thanks Guys for identifying this so fast, although I must admit I am surprised, chicory is grown commercialy in the Eastern Cape - miles from where I saw these.

Birds and possibly other seed eating critters are well known for spreading plants from one area or garden to another. I have all sorts of them that have popped up here. ;)

    Chicory. Aren't those flowers pretty?
We have Chicory growing wild in ditches and fields here in the summer.
Once, we stopped and dug some up, and planted at the edge of the lawn at our cabin. Well, it has naturalized  , and I have to keep it in check now by pulling some of it up each year; but we still like the blue blooms.
