I've been re-reading (for the umpteenth time) my copy of The Southern Kitchen Garden by Adams and LeRoy.
It covers almost everything edible that can come out of a garden--fruits, vegetables, herbs, and even flowers! Basic planting and growing advice; pruning of fruit trees; care of berries; mulching, irrigation and plant protection; this book has it all. Even the drawings and photos are good!
Did I mention there are great recipes scattered about the different chapters?
Although "southern" is in the title, the only thing really specific to the south are the variety recommendations. Otherwise, this is a great gardening book for almost anyone who also likes to cook!

Sounds like an interesting book even if it does have recipes in it.

it does sound like a good one! that was my first thought mg, about the 'southern' part, as we are in the north. will hve to check it out.

Gee, Toni, you can just skip the recipes  . I don't read the electrical diagrams in my DIY books, just jump in and have a go at it!
