I've always loved dichondra. With the little lily pad leaves, strewn madly across the lawn in long, thickened runners and low form, it's a lawn that takes pratically takes care of itself. I just bought some seed to complete a large patch, and also ordered the trailing type they hang in baskets, 'silver' something. I'll let you know how this one goes. Meantime, here are some photos of the tiny dichondra, blooming at this very moment.

Your Dichondra reminds me of tiny water lilies.  By the way the trailing form of this plant is called Silver Falls.

I know that Dichondra will grow readily in most climates Bodhi. The only thing that worries me is that it prefers around 80% full sun - which we don't really get much of in this part of Scotland.  However I think that if it is grown in shadier conditions it would do OK but may have retarded growth. I would love to grow some here but my OH has so little lawn left now that I daren't take over any more.

Oh, I sure wish you had room for some, being so pretty. You could try the silver falls. You are right, that's its name. They suggest hanging basket.
I can't wait to see it. Just bought items to plant it out today.

I'll have a look around for some Silver Fall seeds here Bodhi. I'll have to see what hanging containers have survived being crushed, or holed, by the recent snow and ice.

Its funny how the saying goes one person trash is another persons treasure. I have had a lawn and landscape business for the past 11 years and I can't tell you the number of people that have called me up to come and get rid of Dichondra. Personally I have always kind of liked it as well.
