Thanks all!! I will let you know how my little plant does. I hope it survives - if not, I have learnt a lesson. No pots without drainage anymore - no matter how pretty.
Now what do I do with the ones I have already - the ones without holes?

You drill holes in them with a special drill bit that is good for ceramic pots. Available at most hardware stores, just tell them what you want to do. You may need two bits, a smaller one and a larger one the size of the hole you want. The idea is not to chip the final hole with the large bit. The smaller bit hole makes it easier to drill the larger hole.

Jerry's right... masonry drill bits work well. I, too, learned that same lesson.
