I planted a wide variety of Daylily bulbs on March 5th... and a few Asiatic Lilies. All of the Asiatics have sprouted and are about 4-6 inches tall... but not one single Daylily has sprouted. Do they take more than a month to sprout?
Daylilies and Asiatic Lilies bloom in different seasons. The Asiatics bloom in mid to late Spring so they come up first, mine are already forming flower buds. But Daylilies are summer bloomers, some mid some late summer so you might not see any leaves from them until late April...at least that's when mine start showing up. The Stellas I have out front have been in the ground for 3 years so they start coming up earlier than newly planted ones.
Whew! Thanks Toni. I was beginning to wonder if I bought duds or planted them wrong. I know... I know... PATIENCE!
Cheryl, I have more than 30 named daylilies and many more from seed. The first blooms between June 18th and June 24th hence my name for it Summer Solstice. While the first sprouts have just appeared, those near the warm house foundation, I am looking at three months before blooms, later even for those now appearing. If this is your first season with these, mark the information in a log, it will be useful later. Jerry
They'd better start sprouting soon, or they won't be big enough to bloom in a couple of months. I sure thought they'd be up by now.
