Hello Everyone, These flowers were abundant in my grandmother's backyard when I was a child. I would LOVE to find out their name so that I can begin the search to find the seed or bulbs I need to get them started in my own yard. They are a small [dime sized or smaller] with waxy petals and serrated leaves. I don't recall them having much in the way of scent. ANY help would be very appreciated!! Cheers! I was thinking the same thing from your description, although I've never seen more than 5 petals on one, there are many varieties. You'll want to be careful if these are buttercups and you want them in your flowerbed. The sap can cause sores on your skin and poison animals if they eat it.
Netty and Carolyn are correct it is a double buttercup - Flore Pleno. This is the more popular form of the creeping buttercup as the double yellow flowers are quite beautiful. They can be rather invasive but are easily controlled.
