My husband got all excited about building raised garden beds last year and bought all these garden ties which sat in our back yard for the past year. A couple of weeks ago he set to work getting the raised garden beds built and prepared. He's very pleased with himself and asked me to stop what I was doing - carrying garden ties from where they've been stacked the past year to where he was working - to go in the house for the camera.
I realize the rickety brown picket fence in the photos is ugly. Circa 1970. We're replacing the fence later this summer. I hope!

That is absolutely lovely! Me like a lot.  Your husband's done well. I think you'll have lots of fun playing in those beds.

He likes doing stuff like this. Now to get him to do something with all those railroad ties he bought at the same time last year!

WOW those are impressive.  I could do with raised beds like that in my garden now that I'm getting older but, sadly, so is my husband!!

A lot of hard work. You have created raised beds to be proud of that will provide many years of produce and enjoyment.

They're about 2'6". My husband used a level and is very picky. They're not quite finished yet. He'll be putting a 2x6 around it for a seat. Makes it easier for weeding and harvesting. These raised beds don't tend to get a lot of weeds though.
Now if I could just get him to finish laying the floors in the bedrooms!

Thanks Annie. Yes it is. We've always had fresh rhubarb and strawberries growing but its been years since I've had onions and potatoes. My husband wants to build more but the only areas left tend to get more shade. One area gets a lot of sun but our neighbor's maple tree sheds a lot of leaves there in the fall. It would be easier just to have grass in that area.

Whistler, That is a very good project. Looks good. Just put some new posts in for that fence, I like it. It has a lot of character, will look good in the photos with veggies growing.

Nice job. It will make tending the garden a little easier. Easier to reach the plants and pull the weeds.
