Is this a flower or a weed that I need to get rid of? I don't remember planting anything in this spot but when this came up in the spring I left it to see what it was. Now it is in bloom with purple blossoms and looks a lot like a weed. It is about 3 ft high.

Are the stems square? If so it could be verbena borealis, or a wild form of it.

The stems are square and the pictures I found of blue vervain seem to match I just don't know where it came from. Thanks for your help everyone.
