I have tried to grow Brussel sprouts but our Texas heat gets here before they make. I really don`t do anything special and mine make big beautiful plants, but the sprouts form along the stem where the leaves connect. So if you are in a cool zone just watch there for sprout formation. Some say they are heavy feeders so wouldn`t hurt to fertilize every few weeks and water it in. Or you could use Miracle Grow. Mine are about 3 feet tall now but with the temp at 100 degrees I doubt if they make anything but a few leaflets. When the sprouts form along the stalk you can either cut the entire thing or just take the sprouts if firm. Just cut them off individually. I think that is all they will make so I would remove the entire plant.

Brusselsprouts are in cabbage family. So its a plant starts really early or begining of August (for an autumnal harvest).

BS doesn't grow much after frost, but does taste better with a little frost on it.

I'm not sure whats going on with my Sprouts. This is the first year I started them from seed, which I directly sowed in the sq.ft bed just after Mother's Day (I'm in zone 6 I think? N.E. Pennsylvania)

Should they have come up yet? They seem very small right now.

Starting from seed takes time. While young they are slow growers. I buy plants at my garden center, for a head start !! Try adding Miracle Grow or another fertilizer to speed up growth a bit.
