We have had a purple smoke bush for about 5 years and this year it is doing something I have never seen. It is producing little purple round things that look like grapes. Any idea what these are?? Are they edible?? HELP!!! Confused

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoke_tree
They appear to be the seedpods that birds or animals eat and spread the plant.

Is this what they look like?

Sorry I forgot that weston gardens does that.
On the lower left in that side panel, is Plant Search
click on that, type smoketree in the box and it will bring up the picture and info about it.

eeyoreinrifle Since you have had your smoke bush for several years, any advice on growing it would be appreciated. My husbands family gave me one in June to plant in our backyard in memory of my mother who passed away in December.

If it is seed pods I would sure like some to try to grow one. I can trade something that I have.
