Hi all: I am so glad I found this website. Now I'm hoping that someone will beable to tell me what this plant is.
About 5yrs ago I bought this neat looking perennial at a garage sale. It grows to about 2ft tall with leaves that are somewhat fuzzy. They are shaped like a stag horn fern leaf. The flowers are like batchlor buttons but larger.
At first I loved it because of the blossom and leaf shape. But it is horribly aggressive. It should have come with a warning label.
I have dug it out for the past 4 year as it spreads with roots like large quack grass.
Can anyone tell me what it is? I have moved it to it's own spot way out on the edge of our property where it can spread to it's hearts content.

    Thanks for the guess.

I know it's not a poppy. I have had poppies before. But thank you for your input. :D

It looks like a type of Centaurea to me. Perhaps the Centaurea dealbata or the Centaurea jacea.

My first thought was Centaurea too.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Yes that is what it is. Purple Cornflower. Say's it spreads rapidly and should be divided every 2 yrs. That is one flower you do not want in your regular flower garden. I would say divide every fall or spring. Because in 2yrs it will have taken over. Again thank you. I knew I came to the right place. :D

That is an interesting plant. I like the foliage and the flower, but I can do without the invasiveness.
