As you know I sew tote bags and aprons to sell at the farm market as a supplement to income and as a way to keep myself occupied.
When I came home from the hospital I had a drip bottle hooked up with plastic tubing to drain the surgical area. The doctor said pin it to your shirt.
Well, it's ugly and the tubing kinks and I didn't want to go out with something pinned to my shirt or even under it. So, I sat down and made a little tote bag. It's about 4x6x2 or 3 inches. I lined it like I do the big tote bags. I can pin it to my waistband or lower down on the pocket of my pants and it hides the drip bottle and most of the tube and the tube doesn't kink.
So the other night I sat down and cut out half a dozen more. I managed to get five of them sewed. I took them with me to the doctor's office yesterday. I showed them to the doctor and the nurse and they looked at the one I was using and just loved them. They had never thought of using little tote bags like them. I told the doctor to give one to each patient who needs one and when they have used those five to email me and I will send them some more. I made them from scrap material left from making aprons and tote bags or small remnants of material that I sometimes find at the thrift shop for less than a dollar. So, before I got the great news yesterday I decided to use my talents to payback for the friendly, helpful and caring people who were helping and praying for me.

There are going to be so many people who will love your little tote bags Dooley. Waaay better than seeing a hooked up drip bottle being carried around. Now the patients can be trendy and no-one needs to know that they have an ugly contraption attached to them. You should patent your idea as I'm sure it's going to catch on in a big way. Mr. Green

Those are great and can be used for other things when the original need is passed.
Yep, I see the Texas flag fabric that I sent you.

Dooley, that was so nice of you to think of the others who are going through the same fears and worries that you went through. May God bless your efforts 10 fold.

Dooley, in addition to being ingenious and a great seamstress, you are kind and thoughtful, too. Instead of "tote" bags, these should be called "dooley bags"!

What a good idea and nice-looking bags. I like it when someone does nice things.
You came up with a good idea.

That is such a heart-warming story. Great idea. I can almost see the recipients smile when they are handed their "Dooley Bag".
Standing ovation! High fives! Kudos! And a big ol' pat on the back!
