    Re: Spider ???

Don`t know the scientific name but here they are called "cotton spiders" and are harmless. The have a tendency to like cottonwood trees. But we have them in the eaves of the house. I enjoy watching them if something gets too close to the web they will rock it back and forth hopefully to catch the intruder.

That's an Argiope aka Writing Spider, Garden Spider.

Have you every read the book Charlotte's Web or seen the movie? That is the kind of spider Charlotte is. Perfectly harmless unless you are an insect that gets caught in her web. They might bite if you grab them but it is just in self defense, they really are a gardens friend.

I was just going to post the beautiful one I have in the garden. Garden Spider is all we have ever called them. So since there is already one here, I'll skip it. They are beautiful though!

They are fly killers!! They love to make webs in the barn, and with all that animal waste you know there is going to be hundreds of flies. And ya we call them garden spiders too

That's a very handsome spider. Our spiders are grey and boring, at least the ones that live on our house. We remove their webs from where we walk but otherwise leave them alone. I hope they catch tons of insects every year. :D

I had one last year that made itself right at home. It was fun to watch.... from a distance! (I have a terrible fear of the little buggers).

    Hi Philip,
Just looked at all your kitty pics. They are great.
Checkout my blog "Back yard critters" at the very end of blog meet Mr. Boots. He's a great cat and has 7 toes on all four feet. Going to enjoy looking thru your blog and pictures.
