    Hello Everyone

Last week I dug up my garlic from the herb garden and placed them on the garage floor to dry. Several of them are quite small and I want them to get larger. My question is: Can I replant them this fall as is into the garden for a midsummer crop? Or do I need to break them up into cloves and replant this fall? Or do not replant at all? Please help.... I'm lost on this one. Thank you. :stew1:

Garlic is an allium (in the onion family). Needs to be replanted ina new spot each year. it will collect maggot and other pests if not rotated around the garden.

Garlic has small feet, needs a well fertilized bed to go into. Less manure= smaller bulbs.

Even with a liberal pooping, garlic grows based on what its starts out with. Little garlic=little garlic next year. Plant out the biggest examples you have if size matters to you. This is why some growers are so-o disparaging of plantiing out scapes. They take an extra year to get big.

Liberally add compost, mulch in well in the fall, water when its drouthy. Harvest the next summer 8)
