The corridor of woods between neighboring houses on our street provides for movement of a multitude of woodland animals. This morning was no exception as 10 wild turkeys slowly pecked their way across our back lawn adjacent to the woods. Enter the neighbors cat. At first the cat must have entertained the thought of a gourmet turkey meal. The usual crouching and deliberate cat movement must have attracted the Tom's attention, he moved to be between the flock and the cat. The cat, having been discovered and the moment of surprise lost, decided to sit and watch. The Tom closed the distance between them to about 20 feet, the cat intimidated by the advance, moved in a unhurried retreat as the flock grouped behind dad. Mom apparently advanced too closely as dad shooed her back to the flock again placing himself between his charges and the withdrawing feline. The cat had had enough excitement for one morning and headed home. The flock, with the danger passed, resumed their pecking at whatever turkeys peck at. I returned to my morning newspaper on-line and the flock slowly melted into the woods as easily as they first appeared and the morning resumed its never-ending progress toward noon.

Jerry, you certainly don't need a paintbrush and canvas to paint a picture!
We have wild turkeys here, but they stick to the Sandy Creek area, and we rarely see them. We definitely don't see the interaction and drama that you did!
