|
Last year I traded for like seven different kinds of ornamental grass seed (from the same trader) and none of them germinated. I had a pack from a diff. person that did great.
I'm wondering, is it possible to pick the seeds off the ornamental grass too soon where they won't germinate?
I've heard that if the seeds come off the ends easily, they'd be okay.
Any thoughts on that??

Seeds have to ripen before they will germinate, drying on the plant for as long as possible. Harvest them before the first frost and before the birds get them all.
Quite possibly the trader harvested those seeds while they were still green and they didn't have enough time to store up energy to germinate the next year.

yes, I think that's exactly what happened. I didn't want to make the same mistake. Thanks for the info.
