Let nature do your watering, Luke. They will start producing roots when they have adequate moisture and temperature from nature.

I'm off this week-end to try and scoop a bargain on some black and white tulips.

Black & White sounds awesome! I tried black and pink last year and they didn't do so hot However, this year they will be better established and I will feed them with bone meal Lukey you will love love love your bulbs next spring! You will become addicted to them (like I have) and find yourself planting them EVERYWHERE!!! I bought 3 allium bulbs that are supposed to reach 60 inches tall!!!! That's as tall as I am

I havent even bought tulips yet, I was waiting for them to go on sale at work. But I may have to just buy them full price, since it may be too late to plant if they dont go on sale soon...
Last autumn I planted Daydream tulips, and they were so pretty I think yellow and purple and black and white tulips would be gorgeous

I love tulips too. I planted pink and yellow ones in clumps last year through out my garden. Bought a huge bag from one of the big box stores. They looked great. I know some will appear next spring , but not near so many and not near such big blooms. Still...I will hold off on buying another big bag until next year.
Lukeypukey-If you can, post a photo next year of your results.
Eileen--Id also love to see a photo of your black & white tulips assuming you manage to buy them.
