Now it's the turn of the grand Oriental Lilies. They have finally bloomed and are filling the shadehouse garden with a wonderful heady fragrance. I just love these grand ladies.

I couldn't resist the urge to cut the blooms and bring them into the house. They're taking pride of place on the kitchen bench right now, but the fragrance fills almost every room in the house.

These beautiful blooms came in a mixed pack of bulbs, so I don't know the varietal names. I have to say, even though I don't know who they are, they're most welcome in my home.

They are about the only blooms my hubbie likes to see in the house! I have to say I'm not one to cut blooms to bring inside very much at all, but hubbie does insist these come indoors.

They are so pretty! Wish we had "scratch & sniff" computer monitors!

I agree with Cheryl - we need scratch and sniff computers!! There's just nothing to beat the scent of these gorgeous blooms.

Yep 'scratch and sniff' monitors would be ideal! I took some of these Lilies to my mother-in-laws today and the perfume filled the living area immediately.

I love, love, love the scent of lilies. I have a few varieties in my garden, but it's a long wait for spring in NJ. I sometimes splurge and buy a pack at the grocer's flower stand. Maybe tomorrow... I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. Just Beautiful!

Kath, Yea, "can't wait for Spring"
The Winter has just begun in our neck of the woods so we have a lotta "waiting" to do.
Looking up.... We are seeing such beautiful white countryside today, glistening in the sun, I can only think of what our Spring will bring down the hill on our bulb garden.

Wow, those lilies sure are heavenly. What is a shadehouse garden?

Bernieh, I am counting on you to keep posting spring and summer through our northern hemisphere cool/cold months. You are truly bringing gardening year round. Those lilies are outstanding

So beautiful!! I can almost smell them from here!!!
Before my grandma passed away she was almost totally blind so my sister would order her boquets of lilies so that she could enjoy the fragrance if not the colors

Lukeypukey, this is only the second year I've grown Orientals and now I'm completely hooked! I totally agree. They are stunning blooms.
Kathyd, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the Lily view today. I'll be looking out for your Lily photos during your next Springtime.
Waretrop ... snow already? Having never lived where snow falls, I really can't imagine what it's like being without blooming plants for months. We are lucky in that regard here.
Karrma, my shadehouse garden is a shade-cloth covered section that runs the entire western length of our house. It's set into the hillside, so one side is rock. The shade-cloth blocks out 80% of the sun's UV rays and provides some shelter from the full force of our summer sun. I'll have to do a post to show what it's like!!

Jewell, I will do my best to keep posting flower shots for the remainder of the year. As we get into out 'wet' season here, that will become more difficult though. If we get a proper 'wet', it's almost impossible to get out into the garden!
Stratsmom, I love the idea of sending Lilies to your Grandma so she could enjoy the perfume. I hope if I were in the same circumstance, someone would do that for me. I would love it!

What glorius -looking liliums you have - they are lovely. I cannot blame your hubby feeling the way he does over them - lovely smell, and lovely to look at.
