any tips on propagating these seeds would be greatly appreciated. i bought a pack of 5 seeds last year so i could have a go at bonsai (talk about jumping in at the deep end) needless to say none of them worked :?:
I got some seeds from a neighbor's plant. I just planted some in a pot and set them in a zip lock bag and kept them moist. They are now 6 inches and ready to be divided. The others I soaked in paper towel till they sprouted and then planted them. They also did well. I did this in the greenhouse and they are all still there. I hope they don't have to be winter overed outside. Barb in Pa.

No No. Don't wrap the seed. I am sorry if I mislead you. I use a small plate and put a paper towel on the plate. Then I put my seeds on it spread out evenly on the flat surface. Then I cover with 1 or 2 more sheets of paper towel. Now I add water till it's very puddling and poor off all the extra. That way the paper towel will keep the seeds soaked. Never let the power dry out. I find most things germinate in a few weeks at the longest. when they begin to develop leaves then very carefully I plant them paying attention not to open the 2 halves of the seed. Once in a while I cheat and peek under the top layers to see how they are doing. If you do that be very careful not to disturb them. Barb in Pa.
I always plant special plants in 2 pots and place them in two areas of the greenhouse so if something happens to one I still have the other one. I do that to seeds also. I store them in 2 batches and in different places and plant them in 2 different ways also. Barb in Pa.
Wisteria can be nice. Pruning is important tho or they will get waaaayyy out of hand! There is a rental house across the road and down a bit that has a wisteria vine growing up and smothering the entire top of a 70-80 ft tree. Almost like kudzu does. It's a rental so none of the inhabitants has tended it and in summer it's just green leaves after the blossoms fall, so no one notices it. I saw it yesterday all bloomed out- beautiful but SCARY, the size they can grow to.
Calin, I am surprised that you want to do this with wisteria....the picture you posted of the apt. building there was incredible. Like 8 stories tall with the plant growing and blooming clear to the top..... . Can you imagine what your room will look like if it takes over before you can bonsai it...Just thinking, thats all.
