We often see the Common Tree Snake, also known as the Yellow-Bellied Black Snake, around here. While they are non-venomous, I'm not a great fan of snakes and like to give them a wide berth.
Unfortunately, we stumble upon them here almost every week and as Summer gets closer, we will probably see at least one almost every day.
Anyway, I was coming up the stairs after work just yesterday afternoon when this sight greeted my tired, weary eyes ...

I jumped back a little ... usually my first reaction upon spotting any snake ... but then realised the snake seemed awfully still!

Yes, folks, this silly snake tried to crawl in through the downstairs bathroom window, probably after snacking on some poor frog or gecko, and got stuck. Obviously there was a lump in its throat ... well body really and that was the end of this particular creature! It was just hanging there like some weird Halloween decoration, just flapping in the wind.
Hubbie got the job of removing said silly snake!!!

I don't fear snakes but I'm darn happy I don't have them wriggling into my bedroom window 
Still though, poor snake.

Frank, that's one of the disadvantages of living out here surrounded by bushland ... there are a few snakes around. While we don't often get them inside the house, we do see them on the verandah, downstairs and of course, out around the property all the time. Thankfully, the most commonly spotted snakes are either children's pythons or tree snakes.

Oh dear, poor thing. What a way to go!
I haven't seen any snakes here for years. I like snakes better than I like mice, and there are plenty of those here!

Being the owner of a snake myself I can't help feeling sorry for your one. I'm glad you spotted it though before it began to putrify. Not the best thing to greet you on your return from work.

Eileen, I think you've found one the upsides of my discovery ... early enough to remove before that horrid smell set in! We often have to put up with some rather nasty smells because some poor creature ... frog, toad, snake, bird or wallaby ... has left this world and done it in the vicinity of our property!

Not a snake lover here...I would rather have a mouse run in front of me than be on my knees gardening and have a snake slither close-by....I haven't seen a snake since we moved and I have had them in the house...just a large grass snake but back then I checked under my sheets for quite a while to make sure none were waiting for me to keep them warm...

Sjoerd, snakes are definitely commonplace here in Oz, no matter where you go! Lucky us ... such diverse wildlife here.

Sherry, I'm definitely not a lover of snakes either! I've had them in the house a couple of times, and like you, I would check all the corners and nooks and crannies almost every night before I could go to bed and feel safe!!!
