This summer, I picked some seeds off of this plant: ??? ( photo / image / picture from FlowerFreak22's Garden ) I thought it was a beautiful plant to try to grow. It is about 8-12 inches high more or less and has thin leaves. I found it in Georgia's coastal plain which is fairly dry and sandy. I recently started the seeds in a small greenhouse pot thingy that I have made. ( photo / image / picture from FlowerFreak22's Garden ) They germinated in about 2 weeks. They are still very small as you can see. Phlox drummondii (Annual Phlox, Drummond Phlox) Jon is this one your plant? I thought the flower coloring looked familiar but I can't get them to grow in my yard no matter how many times I plant them.
That helps a lot, thanks! I don't think it's Phlox drummondii because the leaves are thinner than those and the flower is not quite right. It looks more like Phlox glaberrima or possibly a cross between P. glaberrima and P. amoena.
By the looks of the seed pods behind the bloom I'm wondering if it is Dames Rocket. Hesperis matronalis (Dame's Rocket)
I have one left, the rest died pretty quickly. I think I didn't give them enough light. I hope the last one is going to make it otherwise I'm going to have to wait until august to get some more seeds and try again.
I have some seedlings that are struggling a bit. So I added another grow light in hopes that would help them out. Do you use a flourescent/tube light? Or regular light-bulb type?
