Hi okietriker, welcome to GardenStew from north Texas.
Oh, 2 acres of potential gardens. Sounds like a bit of heaven.
Any photos of your acreage, especially 'before' shots then progress shots as your gardens develope would be greatly appreciated by all of us. Wink

Took these while blowing and some burning leaves in the yard today. Don't know if I'll ever get done! We have about 50 trees on the 2 acres. Seven of the Elm trees are dead and will be taken out. I don't have to buy Moss for my terrariums as we have a lot in the yard under some trees. The veggy garden will go in the back where there is the most sun.

Looks like a lovely homestead! On the "south side" photo... is that a lake in the background or are you on a hill?

Okietriker a big welcome from Wisconsin. I would love to say a big warm welcome but our temp's have been in the -16 to -20 degrees lately.
But I am glad you found this wonderful site with so many friendly and helpful folks.
Your garden under glass looks like one would like to live in there. I to can't wait for spring. I have my garden catalogs to keep me looking forward to warmer weather. Have a super day. Stew Face 1

That's a little bit of a hill. The Grand Lake of the Cherokees is only about 3 miles from us, which is the largest man made lake in Ok. with 1,300 miles of shoreline. Here's a view from this past Fall.

I've got to say, this is the most awesome forum I've been on! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Another site I go to at times is Mother Earth News http://www.motherearthnews.com/ that has a lot of helpful tips on everything. They have a forum but I haven't been on it yet. I remember my Dad getting their magazines back when I was just a young kid so they've been around for a long long time.
