I have some downy woodpeckers coming each day and noticed that one of the females is very white while one is more grayish. I put the two together, no messing about with the photos, so you can see how they vary in colour etc.

We have a male that hangs around a tree right next to the house. I hung out some suet on the tree for him but he doesn't even touch it. Wonder why?

I have two suet feeders in the yard and Downey Woodpeckers frequent them more often than any of the other birds.
Nice pictures Kildale. Age would appear to be the difference.
