Here is Duncan's (my eldest lad) latest project in his garden. He built all of this, fence, planters, arch and gate, by himself from scratch and without any plans.

The gate still has to be stained but I think he's done a wonderful job don't you? Of course he takes his talent from his mum!!!! Rolling Eyes

Really great job Eileen, you'll tell him that won't you? Is he a natural woodworking whiz? I like the planters very much. What wood did he use for everything?

He's always been good with his hands Frank and woodwork just seems to come naturally to him. He's also a brilliant artist, photographer, weaponsmith and model maker. As I said he takes his talents from him mother. Yeah that'll be right!!!! Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing
The wood he used is treated pine I think - either that or ash - I'll have to ask him.

I've always been envious of people who are simply born with an understanding for all these practical things. I used to love woodwork in school but somehow my joints never seemed to fit perfectly or something sat a bit wonky. Then I'd look over at a classmate who made it look so effortless.

Maybe he could try his hand at an extreme birdhouse for all your Scottish birdies?

What a beautiful gate and all. Nothing like a beautiful entrance. I guess the acorn really doesn't fall too far from the tree. Cool

I'm sure he would be more than delighted to undertake any woodwork project you have in mind Prim - such a pity we live sooooo far apart though. Maybe one day he'll arrive on your doorstep, who knows, stranger things have happened. Wink

Frank I honestly wouldn't have space for an extreme birdhouse even alythough I'd love to have one. Sad Mmmmmm maybe I could demolish Ian's shed and then tell him that it Laughing Laughing Laughing

Send him over! That looks great! Exactly what I need for my "secret garden" project.
I can't wait until my son is old enough to make stuff like that.
