While in Savannah, I came across this fabulous doorway:

Now while this is too elaborate for most of us, there are wonderful ideas here. Note the balance and interesting shape of the topiaries to frame the door. The liberal use of moldings and corbels create a visual richness. The flag adds a splash of accent color.

The beautifully shaped door and glass serve as the focal point of this grand home, inviting you to enter. Choosing one or two of these elements can add elegance and style to your own entryway.

I'd love to know what you think.

To Delightful Decorating,

- Melisa

I love the perspective in your photograph Melisa. Very Happy You feel as if you are being drawn up the steps and towards that wonderful arched doorway. The slim. twisting shape of the topiary fronted by the urns softens what could otherwise have been a rather stark entrance and lifts your eyes away from all the whiteness. Altogether the pillars and mouldings are very impressive piece of architecturul work.

Lovely - I can see why it stands out for commentary. It looks like it has some sort of historical plaque by the door too - I wonder what it is. I've considered playing with some of those corkscrew topiaries someday, just because they are fun.

Welcome to Gardenstew, btw!

Very grand, I wonder what style of architecture it is, Greek Revival maybe.

Welcome to the Stew, nice to have you.

Welcome Melisa! The entrance fits that house but would overpower my place. It is nice to look at though. Wannabe

Do you mean that my bootjack on the porch with all the various muck boots and farm wear aren't very inviting or classy?
