I just moved into my home about 4 months ago and i love it, but I HATE the grass Mad . It is the worst grass out there, when should I prepare it for better grass seed (I heard kentucky blue was the best) It also has lots of rocks and debris (it was finished being built about 4 1/2 months ago) We also have a garden around on the front side of the house that has lots of promise (but I'm not sure of the names of the plants or shrubs). I was thinking about putting mulch and herbs. Unfortunately I only have about $80 dollars to play with Rolling Eyes So I guess my question is where is best to start? I plan on doing lots of work out there but just clueless as to where to begin. Just to let everyone know...I'm VERY new to gardening and I don't know much about it.

Hi again Gina. Very Happy

I found lots of websites that you might find useful. If they don't cover everything you need to know then just let us know and I'm sure we'll be able to answer your questions for you.

http://www.geocities.com/mastergardener2k/Starting_a_Garden_for_Beginners.html

http://www.backyardgardener.com/article/green/461.htm

A lot of reading for you I'm afraid but you can always save the sites to your favourites and use them for reference so that you don't have to try and digest all the info at one time.

Gina, there is also a great topic you should read through here http://www.gardenstew.com/about270.html One of out members mbwest put in a lawn and rockery in from scratch and had some very rocky soil to deal with at first. He also had a limited budget. Just what you need.
