Common name: Butterfly Weed
Latin name: Asclepias tuberosa
Family: Apocynaceae
Genus: Asclepias

A perennial species of Milkweed that blooms from June to September.
Produces a lot of nectar so is a very attractive plant to butterflies, hence its common name.
Native to North America.
Adverse to transplanting.

Sunlight requirements: Full sun / some light shade
Watering requirements: Drought tolerant
Humidity: Tolerant to high humidity
Soil: Well drained dry, sand or gravel soil
Propagation: Seed, tuber / rhizome division

Other common names: Pleurisy Root, Yellow or Orange milkweed.

Hmmm, that's very pretty and I would like to invite more butterflies to my yard. Does this grow to be very large? (That info would be nice to include in a mini profile too.) Thank you -- I like that format, the mini profile with the pictures right there.
