Some of our queens. We have mostly SMR Carnoloina stock, some Itialian, some New World Carnoloina (new this year) And Now our own raised Unnamed queens we raise from survivor stock. Thinking of calling them alleykares.

SMR on old comb, they don't wipe their feet.

Queens are shipped to us from the supplier in cages. This is a wooden one called a Benton 3 hole cage. They are shipped thru the US mail and UPS. I use only UPS overnight service to cut down on stressed queens.
They come from the south and west mostly but I have boughten Queens from New York, Florida, Georgia and Ohio.

This cage with queen still in it was in a 3 Pound package of bees we bought thru the club from Georgia this spring and shipped to us by the truck load and picked up at a central location. It was inside the package so there is burr comb on the cage.

The wooden box is a 3 pound package of bees being installed (by my gentile method) in a hive. The can has syrup in it and sets inside the cage upside down to feed the bees while traveling. Hanging beside the can in the cage is the queens cage during shipping.

I'm going to hazard a guess that there's about 2000 bees in a 3lb batch Al. Am I even close?

This is my Job, I enjoy it. Every one that would like to keep bees can so it isn't a craft. So why did it get moved?

Answer is. Laughing Laughing It depends on how many are flying when the package is on the scales.
