I thought it was kids with a little knife or hatchet for a long time but had to finally give in that they were indeed teeth marks and made by the little fellows whose pelts are so lovely. We have a small stream behind us and I've not found their home, and mostly they just seem to cut and run leaving the trees. I have a whole orchard of 2 foot trees that live below the cuts ... very curious creatures!

I have never seen them at all! Tricky things! That's why I was fairly certain it was kids vandalizing but a neighbor confirmed that there was a dead one in the stream last summer ... had to call animal control to get rid of it. yeck! But the tree stumps they leave behind are kind of interesting, sort of like a large bonsai.

Well, not to dwell, but I guess it was pretty nasty! How are things over there Eileen? I couldn't go to work, too upset about the bombs. One of the stations was across the street from our hotel. I just couldn't leave my little ones, even though they are recreating Star Wars in the living room as I write! I used to layover in Glasgow, I loved Scotland! We don't fly there anymore, and I do miss it, and the lovely people!

Things are very quiet where I am PeggySue but we heard on the news tonight that two packages had to be control detonated on an Edinburgh bus. Very worrying as my eldest lad, Duncan, was working in Edinburgh at the time. All the staff in his bank have been put on 'red alert' as they're considered to be a high risk target!! It's the same with BT, where my husband and daughter work.  Fingers crossed everything will settle down soon.
I'm kind of looking forward to the week-end as it means we'll be out in the garden again and who knows what else we're going to dig up. I'll post piccies in the gallery if we find any more interesting artifacts. I really wish I knew what the stuff is (or was) that we've already found.
What a pity you don't fly to Scotland nowadays - we might have been able to meet up on one of your stop overs as I only live about 20 miles from Glasgow.

Thank God for relative peace and quiet, hope it stays that way!
We used to have a driver who would come to the hotel in the afternoon and take us on 'adventures'; shopping, castles, pub crawls ... such fond fuzzy memories!

Well, now when you travel, don't you feel the obligation to experience a bit of the local lifestyle? Could have also been that trip to Odd Bins when my girlfriend and I (then young and quite beautiful and innocent) asked about the different types of Scotch and what should we buy for our dear Daddies? The nice handsome young man let us taste many different kinds and I have no idea what we ended up buying, but it is a very fond memory (what's left) and we ended up visiting Odd Bins every week and learning more and buying more each time we went!

Actually, as I recall, after the trip to Odd Bins we went to Debenham's and caused quite a scene taking photos with the manniquin dressed in formal kilt tux .... Thank you for letting me revisit the memory, I still have a photo of the gent and myself! Talk about 'Garden Pests' we were!

 The wildlife in our yard this morning was definitely not a pleasure. During the night a skunk died under a rose bush. It must have been sick because it made a mess all over the yard. I tried to get someone to come and take if for testing to make sure it wasn't rabid but no one seemed interested so we dug a hole and buried it. I covered that section of yard with buckets of dirt trying to get rid of the smell. It did help but my windows are still closed. Dooley
