We have had this grass for about 10 years - it was moved to this house about 6 years ago. It has always done well but this seems to be an exceptional year for it.It grows on the southeast corner of the front porch and is about 6' tall this year.

Polly I was considering buying some Zebra Grass only last week but the label didn't say if it was invasive or not. From your piccie I looks as though it's clump forming. I hope it is because I have the ideal spot for it!!! Does it have to be cut back every autumn to allow new growth in the spring? I'm so glad you posted your piccie because I'm even more convinced that I want some for the garden now.

Eileen - I don't cut it back until early spring. Here in Michigan with the snowfall that we have it is beautiful with the snow and ice clinging to it. It does not seem to spread very much - just a nice sized clump.

A friend of mine has it planted in a good bedding mix, she gets this stuff for all of her beds and everything grows like crazy in it. Hers is really pretty. I, of course, got a piece of it. I haven't put it in the ground yet. I am going to try and get some bedding mix for a new bed I am planning and I want to put it in there.

That's zebra grass? The zebra grass around here is small and looks much like vareigated liriope. It's sometimes called Aztec grass as well. Ah, the problems with using common names rather than botannic. Not that I know the botannic names of plants, but I know some of you do.
Great plant...looks wonderful where you have planted it.
