My new beds are 12 inches deep. Can I put all the garden stuff I'm pulling out into bottom of beds before soil goes in? Seeds, roots and all? I'm guessing it will work and have plenty of time to compost before spring. All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I also cleaned worm farm yesterday.Got almost 25 pounds of worm castings. My plants are going to grow next spring for sure. :smt079

I would say not the seeds if at all possible. Eventually you may be pulling untold amounts of whatever seeds you put in there. They can stay dormant for a long time in the right conditions, until they get churned up enough to sprout at the surface. Are you putting this new bed on sod or a "clean" spot? A thick layer of cardboard is an excellent beginning for this bed, too. Any weeds, seeds or creeping rhizomes, will have a much harder time getting through the new layer of topsoil.

Do you have a picture of your worm farm by any chance? I keep thinking I want to do one, but haven't really put any effort into starting one up. Time, Time, Time! I always seem to find myself with more left to do at the end of the day than I have day left at the end of my to do.

Thanks Carolyn. I will take a picture of worm farm when the sun comes up. They are very little work with lots of benefits.
